Tents behind the Berms

Berms are being erected at a glacial pace to keep further vehicles from moving in. However, they are not effective at keeping people from setting up campsites at the waters edge.

  1. I was there yesterday. The dirt berms that are in place seem to be fairly effective when they fill the space from the road to the fence line (assuming that section of fence hasn’t been cut/vandalized to create more space for campers.) Unfortunately, there are plenty of spots that appear vacant and there are no berms in place. One has to wonder why the County has been allowing people to illegally camp here for years — and now supports it through enhanced services. In the meantime, the County has blockaded multiple attempts by Novato residents to protect the adjacent wetlands. The garbage and toxic run off breaks multiple state and federal environmental laws. Multiple agencies turning a blind eye to the wetlands that they once worked so hard to protect. There is so much that is wrong with this situation.
