Another RV Fire!

How much did this cost the county of Marin to clean up and haul off?

This is the second RV fire this year.  The toxic foam sprayed to stop the fire is running into the wetlands.  The installation of the RV when burnt is toxic.

Still, the county sits on their hands with no solutions and let the environment suffer.

Fire was in the am of Sunday May 7, 2023.

Canned Response to Citizen Letters: Fish and Wildlife

Good Afternoon,

Thank You for your concerns at Binford Road.  We continue to work with Marin County Sheriff’s Office and our Officers/Supervisors continue to respond to calls for the area.

As you can see, this is a non-response as it states nothing useful about getting this garbage pile out of our wetlands.

Subject: Binford Rd. Novato

Dear Supervisor Lucan,

I am writing to request your attention to the encampment on Binford Rd in our community. As a concerned resident, I have noticed an increase in the number of RVs and makeshift shelters in the area, and I believe it is important that we take action to address this issue. The encampment has been a growing concern for the community, with increased litter, and safety hazards. There is also environmental damage to the area, with improper disposal of waste and other hazardous materials. These conditions are not only unhealthy and unsafe for those living in the encampment but also for the surrounding community.

I am requesting that until the encampment can be shut down the county increase sanitation efforts, and provide regular or full-time monitoring by law enforcement. I understand that this is a complex issue and there are no easy solutions, but I believe that we must take action to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.

Your website states:

“Eric Lucan, current Mayor of the City of Novato, has a strong track record in elected office, community service, and business. He is a known local leader who is passionate about helping kids and seniors, protecting our environment, and giving our workers, students, and small businesses a chance to succeed in a changing economy. He listens to constituents, develops creative solutions, and stays focused on achieving real, measurable results.”

I fail to see how allowing armed convicted sex offenders that are selling methamphetamine and fentanyl to reside illegally in our community is in alignment with the statement on your website. I own a commercial building at 850 Grant where three small businesses operate. I can state with 100% confidence that none of the small business owners support the policies that have allowed the situation at Binford Rd to exist.  My wife used to run on the trails near Binford Rd. several days a week. She is now afraid to even drive to the trailhead.  As an environmentalist, I can’t see how the current conditions at Binford Rd. are good for the environment.

My parents moved to Novato in 1966 the year I was born. I raised my three kids in Novato and continue to live in Novato just outside City limits. The Binford Rd situation is talked about at dinner parties, backyard BBQs, and local sporting events. Everyone I talk to about Binford Rd feels our elected officials are failing our community.

If there is a plan or policy in place to address the situation at Binford Rd. please share.

I am happy to meet with you to discuss this issue in depth. Feel free to call my cell if you want to talk or schedule a meeting.  I am happy to invite the business owners at 850 Grant if you want to meet small business owners and get their opinion on this issue.

Best regards,

Citizen Letter: Detritus in the Binford Rush Creek Area

To:[email protected] <[email protected]>

Hi Clint,

I would like to formally file a complaint about the residents near the Binford Rush Creek Reserve near Novato, CA. These residents have been urinating, defecating and throwing their detritus amok in the wetland areas. I believe this is dereliction of the lands, and I want something to be done about this urgent issue. Please respond posthaste with steps to tackle this issue, as members of family affected by this have been diligent taxpayers of this community for decades.

Thank you,

Pls sign petition to clean up/save Binford road

Hey Friends!

Binford Rd is being used as a playground by the RV residents and they are dumping into our wetlands.. If you care, and I know you do, please sign his petition.  We are gathering evidence about the environmental hazard this is causing and will be appearing again and again at the County Board of Supervisors with our signatures to show that we CARE and want something done NOW. (and pls forward this to friends who care!)

Please call CAL TIP tomorrow and report the dumping of trash into our once protected wetlands at Rush Creek Preserve/Binford Rd at 888-334-2258

(Binford road leads to the airport off of Atherton Drive and is behind Rush Creek).  The below is a photo of a RV resident who is trespassing on Fish and Wildlife land and moving it with a gas lawn mower so he can use it as his backyard.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO SAVE OUR HABITAT!
